2011 Season

The Choir of Selwyn College, Cambridge

Carols by Candlelight

The Choir has existed since the foundation of the Chapel in the 1890's but it was only in 1976 with the admission of women students into the college that it became a mixed college choir as we know it today. Their repertoire ranges from 10th century to 21st century and they have premiered many new works by leading UK composers. Each year they undertake an international tour and have visited New Zealand, USA, mainland Europe and most recently Canada. They have made several CD's, with the most recent  -God be in my Head: Choral Music by Paul Edwards - attracting excellent reviews. They are directed by their Canadian Director of Music, Sarah MacDonald, the first woman to hold such a post in an Oxbridge Chapel.

“These are compelling performances. Selwyn would give any of their more illustrious neighbours a run for their money." International Record Review
